Parent School Involvement

Being part of your child's schooling

How many times has your child come home from school, asking you to go up and help with canteen or sports day, or other activities your child may be involved in, and parents are invited to attend.

This can be a juggling act for working parents, diarise the event with your partner and see if one of you can attend. If neither of you can make it, are there grandparents/family who could attend?

However there may be tasks you, which you could do from home and still be involved as a parent. You may not be able to help with the school reading program, perhaps you could cover some reading books at home?

You may not be able to help in the school canteen you could bake some cakes at home for them to sell.

Schools have a variety of sporting activities on the weekends, there are always plenty of parents required helping out with the teams, it's also a great way of meeting other parents and forming friendships.

Schools often hold working Bees, these are held on weekends, diarise so you can attend, it is important for your child to see you involved. If you are contributing some of your free time to helping at your Childs school, it does help ease the guilt when things do come up and you cannot attend due to work commitments.
