Some great party foods and drinks

 

Teddy Cup Cakes

340g packet buttercake mix
100 g dark chocolate dots
1 cup chocolate hazelnut spread
250g honey flavoured tiny teddy biscuits
2 tablespoons hundreds and thousands

Preheat oven to moderate 180c. Brush base and sides of a 12 cup muffin tin with oil. Prepare buttercake mix according to directions on packet; fold chocolate dots through mixture. Spoon mixture into prepared tins; bake 15 minutes or until firm and golden brown. Allow to stand in tin 5 minutes. Remove cakes and cool on wire rack. Spread each chocolate hazelnut spread. Place 4 - 5 teddy biscuits around the edge of cakes. Sprinkle hundreds and thousands around biscuits.

Stripe Sandwiches

4 Slices white bread
butter
vegemite

Spread 3 slices of bread with butter and vegemite. Stack slices. Spread side up. Top with the unbuttered slice. Press down gently.

Using a sharp knife cut crusts neatly from bread. Cut the crossways into four fingers. (Hint: Use animal shaped biscuit cutters to cut out sandwiches if desired)


Mini Pizzas

1 large french stick sliced
Tomato paste
1 stick cabanossi thinly sliced
1 small onion thinly sliced
10 cherry tomatoes sliced
Grated cheese

Preheat oven to moderate 180c. Line two 32 x 28cm oven trays with foil. Brush with melted butter or oil. Spread sliced french stick with tomoato paste. Arrange cabanossi, onion and tomato on top and sprinkle with cheese. Bake for 10 minutes or until crisp.


Chocolate Crackles

3 cups rice bubbles
¼ cup cocoa powder
1 & ¼ cups icing sugar
¾ cup desiccated coconut
200g white vegetable shortening (copha) melted
1/3 cup dark choc bits

Line two deep 12 cup patty tins with silver foil patty cases. Combine rice bubbles, cocoa and sugar in large bowl; mix thoroughly, then stir in cocnut. Stir in melted shortening. Spoon mixture into prepared patty tins. Sprinkle with choc bits. Allow to set.


Beach Baby Jellies

170g packet yellow jelly crystals
4 cups boiling water
4 tablespoons fine biscuit crumbs
24 jellybabies
24 paper cups

Line two 12 cup patty tin's with two layers of paper patty cases. Combine jelly crystals and water in a jug. Stir until all the crystals have disolved. Set aside until cool. Refrigerate overnight. Sprinkle biscuit crumbs over half of each jelly. Lay a jelly baby on the crumbs. Place a lifesaver on other half of jelly and put a paper parasol through the centre.

Sausage Rolls

1 teaspoon oil
1 onion finely chopped
500g sausage mince
1 cup soft white breadcrumbs
2 tablespoons tomoato sauce
1 egg lighlty beaten
3 sheets frozen ready rolled puff pastry thawed
milk glazing

Preheat oven to moderately hot 210c (190 gas). Lightly grease an oven tray. Heat oil in frying pan; add onion and cook over low heat until soft and transparent. In a bowl combine onion, mince , breadcrumbs, tomoato sauce and egg.
Lay pastry sheets on a lightly floured board and cut into tthree horizontally. Divide the meat mixture into six equal portions and spoon across the long edge of the pastry. Roll up to form a long sausage shape. Brush lightly with a little milk. Cut rolls into 4cm lengths and place on prepared tray. Bake 10 minutes; reduce heat to 180c and bake for 15 minutes until rolls are golden. (Sausage rolls can be frozen for up to 2 weeks before serving. Thaw and reheat in moderate oven for 30 minutes).

Party Drinks

Fruit Punch

125ml orange juice
425g fruit salad
juice of 1 lemon and 1 orange
750ml chilled lemonade
Fresh Fruit such as rasberries, blueberries, apple , orange, rockmelon and honeydew melon

In a large serving bowl, combine organe juice, fruit salad and juice of orange and lemon. Stoir lighlty to combine. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour. Just before serving add chilled lemonade. Garnish with fresh fruit.

Chocolate Milk

4 cups cold milk
¼ cup chocolate topping
vanilla ice cream
cocoa

In a jug combine milk and choclate topping and stir well to combine. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour. Before serving whick mixture until foamy. Place a scoop of ice cream in each serving glass and sprinkle with cocoa. Serve immediately.

Banana Smoothie

1 cup cold milk
1 peeled and sliced banana
1 tablespoon honey
1 egg
2 tablespoons malt
2 scoops vanilla ice cream
2 ice cubes

Combine milk, banana, honey, egg, malt, ice cream and ice in a blender. Blend on high for 2 minutes or until smooth. Pour into glasses to serve. Sprinkle with cocoa and garnish with a slice of banana.

Treat Bags

Fairies

Magic is the theme. Include a selection of pretty pink lollies such as pink marchmallows, musk lollies, heart lollies, sherbert and freckles. All to be wrapped in cellophane and tied with pink ribbon.

Dinosaurs

All children can halp make these simple lolly bags. Cut out a ragged edge on a brown paper bag and attach dinosaur stickers. Lollies such as bubble gum, rocky roald, small eggs and jelly beans.

Animal Party

Make a treat bag out of hession or a brown paper bag. Fill it with animal and fruit shaped lollies syuch as snakes, banana's popcorn, chocolate sultanas and jelly beans.

Teddy Bears Picnic

In a small cane basket choose from many bear shaped biscuits and lollies such as tiny teddies, carmello bears, sour bears and jelly bears.
